Model:
Make up will be designed to make the model look as fresh as possible. This might mean I will use as little make up as possible in order for the model to appear very natural and I believe that this will appeal to my target audience because it will relate to them more than a glammed up model and it will make them feel better about them self which would encourage them to pick the magazine up and read it.
Hair will reflect a carefree and relaxed approach to life. It will preferably be wavy and long and not manicured to perfection. I'm hoping this will portray that with the help of the tips and advice in my magazine, they've set away their worries about college and feel relaxed about completing their exams and looking out to the future.
I am hoping that the pose will convey the model's look of ambition and pride in herself, she may be standing up straight with her chest out and her hand and arms resting in a comfortable and relaxed way to connote the way she is feeling. I'd like her to have her head up fairly high, looking out to behind and above the camera with a smile on her face to seem as though she's proud and looking out into her future because she's done well in her education.
Colour, layout and font:
I'm hoping to use a pale and white colour scheme, preferably a white background with light grey text to add class and sophistication to the magazine without being too in-your-face. Seeing as this magazine is aimed at a higher class than the majority of students, it would appeal to them more as the cover uses colours that portray their class because it will automatically draw them in if they see something that appeals to them. The pale colours and shades are being used to give the magazine cover an elegant feel and I will achieve this by using a soft, curvy font which is not bold enough to look garish and clumsy but bold enough to make the magazine look important. The model will be the centre of visual interest and will be centred on the page with various cover lines, pull quotes and splash scattered around her, closer to the corners of the page. This portrays how the model is successful and in control because she's the main feature of the cover and everything else has been positioned around her. I will use reversed out cover lines on an article which is particularly controversial or eye catching to engage the reader even further which will entice them into reading the article.
Masthead and puff:
My masthead will be going across the top section of my magazine cover, and will take up approximately 1/5 of the page. I will use a curved yet elegant and bold font in a light grey or dark blue colour to compliment the features of the photo e.g, clothing and background. I will have all of the letters of the masthead in capital letters which I am hoping will cannote to the audience that the magazine and the time when you are a student should both be very important in your life. The capital letters will also give the magazine a formal look because its like the masthead is setting the standard for the rest of the magazine.
Use of language:
The language that I'll be using will be straight to the point and intellectual as well as not overly formal so the audience feels as though the writers on the same level as them, however, the language used shouldn't be too informal or seem vulgar or childish with no articles that aren't interlinking with the main feature which is student life. My magazine will be soley focused on the academic side of being in education which can either aid students who are straying off track or to assist students who are already heavily involved in college.
